Aircrete Products Association: COVID-19 Industry Position

Loughborough University’s School of Architecture Building and Civil Engineering - the 3D Concrete Printing Process

In January 2020, British Precast held discussions with research students and senior staff at Loughborough University’s School of Architecture Building and Civil Engineering and toured their industrial scale research laboratory. Recent research focusing on off-site fabrication of concrete components using 3D Concrete Printing (3DCP) and samples of products and test manufacturing were on show and the University is advancing a number of projects, including work under the 'Transforming Construction’ arm of the Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund.

HSE Guidance On Welding Fumes

In February 2019, HSE issued a safety alert to inform industry of a change in relation to the control expectations for exposure to welding fume including that from mild steel welding. This followed new scientific evidence from the International Agency for Research on Cancer that exposure to mild steel welding fume can cause lung cancer and possibly kidney cancer in humans.
