ICT Yearbook 2020-2021

26th edition out now

The latest edition of the ICT Yearbook has just been issued at the start of what is the Institute’s 50th anniversary year.  It marks the occasion with a featured article on the introduction of the first diploma course in Advanced Concrete Technology in 1968 and the subsequent setting up of the Institute by course diplomates in 1972.  50 years on, the Yearbook also considers the course’s successor, summarising the dissertations submitted in partial fulfillment of the current MSc in Advanced Concrete Technology, awarded by the University of Leeds.

A topical guest article describes in detail the extensive use of concrete in the Thames Tideway infrastructure project.

The book’s core content consists of ten technical papers presented by an international panel of speakers at the annual ICT Convention, treating various aspects of the theme of ‘Net Zero Carbon Concrete’ and introduced by a keynote paper on the MPA’s Roadmap to Beyond Net Zero.  This is followed by the ICT Prize-winning paper on engineered microbial technologies delivered at the latest Young Researchers’ Forum, and a report of the ICT-supported RAEng webinar series on recycled aggregate concrete.

Regular features include the ‘Face to Face’ interview, this year with Chris Clear of MPA-British Ready-Mixed Concrete Association, and ‘Inside Committee’, with a look at the work of the ICT’s Technical & Education Committee.
