Design and Construction
Aircrete is so much more than just a structural building block. It has been developed for use in many applications, ranging from external and internal walls through to foundations, floors and rapid build systems.
This Technical Note was updated in 2013 and includes the latest Bundilding Regulation changes.
The simplest and most cost-effective way to minimise thermal bridging is to use high performance construction details for key junctions such as those that occur at lintels, party walls, ground floors etc. The Aircrete Products Association has developed a comprehensive set of such details that are freely available to download.
The design standard Eurocode 6, or BS EN 1996: Design of masonry structures applies to all building types and civil engineering works.
The robustdetails® scheme is the alternative to pre-completion sound testing for satisfying Part E of the Building Regulations. Using the scheme avoids the uncertainties of pre-completion sound testing.
Thin joint masonry is an innovative construction method for use with aircrete blockwork that allows build times to be significantly improved and offers many other practical and commercial benefits.
